Genevieve Magazine and Vueve Clicqout: At Lagos Polo Club.

Polo always brings our the crazies when it comes to fashion…especially hats! In England, it is customary for the ladies to bring out those hats that are too freaky to wear to church for any Polo sporting event. When Genevieve Magazine and Vueve Clicqout hosted ‘Fashion & Style Day Out’ in the 2014 President’s Cup at Lagos Polo Club on the 19th of January, my Nigerian Ladies did not disappoint! Hats off to you guys! (No pun intended). If English Women brought out the crazies when it comes to hats? I think we held our own. Here are a few pictures of what who was wearing at the Polo Event:

SPOTLIGHT ON: LUPITA NYONG’O

Image

Lupita Nyong’o is Hollywood and fashion’s new IT girl! And if you don’t know her…what am I saying? You should! 31 years old Kenyan Lupita Nyong’o has been in the spotlight after her Hollywood debut of ’12 years a Slave’, alongside famous Chiwetel Ejiofor. The movie was a Golden Globe Awards favourite and apparently, so was Lupita! She was crowned one of the best dressed women on the Red carpet, and also nominated Golden Globes Best supporting actress.

Image

After the great critically acclaimed ’12 years a slave’ movie, its been up,up and up for Lupita. Born in Mexico(where her parents resided at the time), Lupita was given a mexican name as was traditional. She’s was picked as one of the new faces of Miu Miu alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Bella Heathcote and Elle fanning. She has graced the covers of various magazines like Dazed and Confused Magazine, W magazine, Dujour and The Hollywood Reporter along side the likes of Oprah and Julia Roberts!

ImageImageImage

Lupita Nyong’o is not just another ebony beauty, she’s got the brains to match! She graduated Hampshire University in the united states with a degree in Film and Theatre studies and furthered her education in Yale School of Drama! Impressive ay? Immediatley after graduating Yale, she snagged the 12 years a slave deal.

Lupita ain’t the only famous cat in her family, Her cousin Isis Nyong’o was on Forbes list as One of Africa’s most powerful women! Lupita’s father Peter Nyong’o is also a politician. Making us proud to be Africans!

I wanted retro styling and easy-to-wear pieces that you can mix and match and have fun with. The colours and prints are fun, fresh and vintage inspired and the destination tees make the collection a little tongue in cheek.”

The button down shirt has graced alot of runways for the spring/summer collections, especially buttoning down inverse style where you leave some buttons open as seen in the picture. Two tone tuxedos would also be very in this year, so bring out your inner dude and don’t be scared of a little testosterone fashion wise!
