Photographer Paul Ukonu’s “Bedroom Series” – Episode 3

So Paul Ukonu started this project called Bedroom Series some weeks ago and the main aim of the project is to celebrate beautiful African women (black or white). Great idea, no?

The pretty HIP Tv OAP, Daala Oruwari is the model for this edition called ‘New African Woman’.

 

Excerpt : “Her skin, dark and shiny like the crude oil from her home town. Her faced carved to fine detail like the masks at her village’s shrine. She is modern, she is ancient. She is the new African woman, a renaissance of the natural allure of daughters of Africa.”

“White Noise” – IamISIGO Debuts Its Amazing Resort 2015 Collection

Presenting the Resort 2015 Collection from Nigerian stylist Bubu Ogisi‘s fashion label IAmISIGO – “White Noise“.

We absolutely love everything about this collection! It is basically Monochrome heaven!

 

The collection was inspired by the beauty of random signals with the power of time series distributed over different frequencies.

The artistic director, Bubu Ogisi says – “Going back 15 to 20 years ago when we sat in front of the non-remote televisions then, waiting for a programme to start all I remembered was staring into the movement of the black pixels and wondering why they were confined to this box” .

She also added that after the splashy, bold colors of the past few seasons, they decided to opt for a much more cleansing palette with head-to-toe stripes and clean black and white looks for resort.

The rectangular grid inspired the rectangular shaped Bubu shirts, Bubu crop and Bubu Dress. The slits along with the mesh detail and uneven side pieces were inspired by the sequence of serially uncorrelated random variables with a zero mean and a finite variance. The uniform probability distribution formed the base for all the oversize pieces sticking to our core brand values of being minimal but yet audacious.

The irony of such a scientific contrast for something that is commonly seen to be “nothing” gave them the right rules to create their Resort 2015 collection “White Noise”.

BETTY IRABOR IN ITUEN BASI AT THE GENEVIEVE PINK BALL LIPSTAIN LAUNCH

On Sunday, Genevieve magazine and House of Tara launched the Genevieve Pink Ball Lipstain By Tara at Centro Mall, Lekki.  We were happy we got to attend because there was a whole lot of fabulousity to be seen! And one person we couldn’t help but admire was Genevieve’s founder and editor-in-chief Betty Irabor… She looked totally glam in Ituen Basi!

She wore the print dress and cropped jacket from the label’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection called Ekemini, photographed above. She accentuated her waist with a slim red belt, wore black leather Chanel peep toes with chain detailing on the platform and finished the look off with a pink velvet purse.
